Danau Toba (Toba Lake), one of Green Eco Tourism Destination in Indonesia

I am going to write an interesting place in Indonesia that you should come and visit when you had a chance to come to Indonesia.

The first one is Toba Lake or in Indonesian Language called "Danau Toba", Danau Toba is located in North Sumatera Province, Sumatra Island. Danau Toba is the largest volcanic lake in the world. Danau Toba area are around 1700 square meters with approximately 450 meters depth and located 906 meters above sea level,

In addition, Danau Toba it is the site of a supervolcanic eruption that occurred 69,000-77,000 years ago, a massive climate-changing event. The eruption is believed to have had a VEI intensity of 8. This is the largest known eruption anywhere on Earth in the last 25 million years. According to the Toba catastrophe theory to which some anthropologists and archeologists subscribe, it had global consequences, killing most humans then alive and creating a population bottleneck in Central Eastern Africa and India that affected the genetic inheritance of all humans today.

One of the uniquenes of Danau Toba is an island inside the Lake, we can say an Island inside Sumatra Island named Samosir Island (Pulau Samosir). And in the midst of Samosir, there is another lake, which adds to the uniqueness of this tourist spot. So, another lake inside a lake.

I wrote Green Eco Tourism because Danau Toba is one of the most favorite tourist destination in Indonesia. You may be surprised to discover the lake because its looks like a sea more than a lake. The atmosphere is cool and refreshing, beautiful scenery and charming, with mountains that surround this area may make you feel at home.

This place is a haven for many interesting plants (flora). You can enjoy the view of sunrise and sunset and you can swim in the lake, or used the boat to go around the lake. Historical tourism, you can also visit Samosir Island to see the traditional houses of Batak kings of ancient times was also the king's tomb in the area Tomok. Batak is the name of Northern Sumatera tribes.

Wow, tourism on a volcano, so to speak. Great views, I can imagine that this is a perfect place for recreation.

How funny, the lake on the island in the lake... I really would love to see that.

It all somehow reminds me of a volcano lake in italy where I stayed last year and where I will be again this summer - also a place whithout mass tourism.
