Forest Friends Yangki und Hanna

yangki Dear all, next week on June 14, 2011 I got an invitation from Brawijaya University Student in Malang as one of speaker in "Malang Youth GREENeration: The Young Leader for Environmental Stewardship" as co-Founder of Kandank Ilmu and also as one of Forest Friends Indonesia by WWF-Indonesia. This is a great opportunity for me to share my environmental experience and to inspire others to do a good thing for our planet. Please find a poster of this event.
yangki Dear all, last week I was in invited by Smart FM radio to have a workshop on "Youth & Environment" in @atamerica, a cultural centre from US Embassy. I was there to present my view from my summer school experience ans also my involvement in Forest Friends Project by WWF-Indonesia & WWF-Germany. I wrote the report of this talkshow in my website. You can read herehttp://www.yangkiimadesuara.com/2011/05/28/liputan-acara-youth-environment-oleh-radio-smartfm-dari-america/ and here's a picture from this talkshow. Thank you to WWF-Jugend for the Panda T-Shirt. :)
yangki Dear Forest Friends fans. I've bought a new domain for my website. You can find me here inhttp://www.yangkiimadesuara.com Sometimes I wrote in Indonesian and English. I hope you enjoy my article and random thought.
yangki Dear Forest Friends fans, last week Lena (Forest Friends Finalist from Germany) came to Jakarta, Indonesia for the 1st round of tree plantation. I was invited by WWF Indonesia for a dinner meeting on March 27 in Jakarta and I went there from Bandung. I also met with Mia & Lena (Forest Friends Indonesian Finalist) and from 28 March and 1 April 2011, Rima & Lena (The first team with the most fans) visited Tesso Nilo for tree plantation. I would like to say thank you / terima kasih / vielen dank for all Forest Friends fans that always give us their very best support to make it happen. Yes, we save 63,780 trees in order to preserve Sumatran Tiger habitat. I'm also working on an article for Zeitgeist Young Minds about this project. Wish me luck and here's one of picture. Left-Right: Mia, Lena, Rima & Yangki
yangki Photo was taken from Rima's camera.
yangki Dear Forest Friends Fans. I would like to wrote about our activities during this last two weeks. Hanna is in bike tour around Germany and this week already becoming her 2nd week on the road. She started her bike tour from March 24, 2001. I post a picture from Hanna and for her 2nd day bike tour. My update will coming soon.
yangki Hanna, this is the video of Felix Finkbeiner and children of the Plant-for-the-Planet Initiative are speaking at the UN to open international year of forests 2011.
yangki Hi all, I just wrote an article about A Tiger in the Airport.
Tiger in the airport
Dear friends, last summer during my trip to participate in summer school on energy on environment in Amherst, MA, USA I had transi...
HannaS Yes, I´ve heard that, it´s a good thing and I´m already excited about the planting of all the trees. I hope that in 2011, a lot can be done for the forests. Maybe, in connection with the tiger saving programs, there will be more awareness in public. But most important is that the great work of WWF is continued, and I think in this point, we can be pretty sure :)
yangki Did you know that the year 2011 was declared the International Year of Forests by the United Nations to raise awareness and strengthen the sustainable forest management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests for the benefit of current and future generations. To find out more about this International Year of Forest just visit their website inhttp://www.un.org/en/events/iyof2011/index.shtml I'm really excited about next year because we will plant all the trees from our supporter through this Forest Friends Project in Tesso Nilo, Riau Province, Indonesia. Big thank you for all of our fans, without your support we will never going to do this big thing for our planet.
yangki Hi Hanna. Today 1 Dec 2010 is your birthday. So, "selamat ulang tahun" from Bandung. Wish you all the best for your future and your contribution for our planet.
yangki This picture was from Central Park in New York, what I really love in this Park is they have their own path/route for vehicle, cycle and runner. This is the runner path and you can see the logo reflect people is running.
Gast hey thats cool
yangki Hi Hanna, I found a video from the last COP15 in Copenhagen, Denmark. This was one of my interview, he's running a website namedhttp://www.armdevices.net/ I attached the video here.
HannaS Did you know that there is a big company for windmills in the town where I come from? It´s called Enercon and they offer a lot of jobs for the region. You can often see the big parts for the windmills being transported... They seem huge when they are right next to you...
yangki I never heard about Enercon before. But as I know, there's a lot of windmills in Germany. How many percent electricity in your town comes from renewable energy such as windmills? In Indonesia, we mostly still use coal, and also gas and in someplace we use hidro.
yangki Hi Hanna, 4 days ago, Nov 10. I got invitation to attend Speech by President Barack Obama in University of Indonesia. He's a great man, humble and always with a positive thingking. We know that Republicans took over House of Representative chair over Democrats in the last election. He also sometimes said some word in Indonesian languages and also told us about his life in Indonesia (4 years). He said "Underneath the headlines of the day, we must build bridges between our people, because our future security and prosperity is shared." I remembered what you said during interview with High & Teen Magazine "International cooperation and communication is one of the key success for environmental protection". In the end of the speech, I got chance to shook his hand and I said " See you next year Barry", next year he will visit Indonesia for East Asia Summit. Here's transcript of his speech.http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2010/11/10/remarks-president-university-indonesia-jakarta-indonesia
Gast WOW, you were so lucky to watch his speech... I just watched the video, it was great. He´s got a lot of charisma. I did not know that he was living in Indonesia in his childhood... Very impressive, especially what he said about developement - what it is about. I hope that he will be able to bring through a lot of changes he has planned in the USA.
HannaS Oh, sorry, that was me of course... My computer logged me out somehow.
yangki I got invitation from US Embassy because I was one of alumnus that previously studied in US. So, I met again with friends from previous summer school program and some new friends that are amazing.
HannaS you are a "Glückspilz" how we say in German, that means you are very lucky :)
yangki Hi Hanna, actually there's an article about my time in Berlin during GYG Congress and also meeting with you in WWF. This article was published in my university website and in English version. Here's the linkhttp://www.unpad.ac.id/archives/36120
yangki The emissions of volcanic ash, known to the locals as 'wedhus gembel', at 12.40am local time, 69 peoples killed and hundred people have to move to get save place to stay. Now, the save area is 20km from the Merapi mountain. In Indonesia, hot cloud from Merapi Mountain called "Wedhus Gembel"
yangki Today, Merapi erupt again and more people die. Indonesia Government just released the instruction for this critical situation. We're working together, army, police, volunteer, government (local & central) and civil society.
yangki Hi, I want to give you a lesson about Penguin body language. During my weekend in Boston, MA (summer school program), we went to an aquarium in Boston. I tooke a picture of a body language of penguin. Here you go.
Gast yangki-kun,, gambarnya ada yg lbh gede ga? tulisannya ga kebaca bro
Gast yangki-kun,, gambarnya ada yg lbh gede ga? tulisannya ga kebaca bro
yangki Ok, I'm going to write it down. Start from Left to Right: (1). Look at me! Look at me!, (2). I really like you, (3) Back off, this is my space, (4) You're getting to close to me! (5) That extra salt has got to go. :-)
yangki I would like to say thank you for friends from London, India, Hannover, Germany and also my summer program host (ITD) that #prayforindonesia after we was hit by the dual natural disaster. We also #prayforindonesia hoping the best and government and civil society working together to help victims of tsunami in Mentawai Island and Merapi eruption. Picture after eruption taken from http://www.thejakartapost.com/
yangki More than 300 peoples dies because of tsunami in Mentawai Island (West Sumatra) and hundred people missing and more than 30 people died in Central Java after Merapi eruption, an active volcano in Indonesia. That was sad read about it in newspaper, watch it on tv, and see pictures of it. I really want to becoming a volunteer in that area especially Mentawai but it's hard to reach that area because that's a remote island with poor infrastructure. We do our best to send food, shelter and medicine for them. We #prayforindonesia and we #actforindonesia. Pic from cbc.ca
HannaS Yes, I heard about it in TV news and I thought about you and all the people who lost everything... That´s so sad!
yangki Hi Hanna, during a week in Tucson, Arizona we learn about flora and fauna in Sonoran Desert, one of them is visiting Desert Museum. This is my first time in Desert and there was 40 degree Celsius (soooo hooot). I take a picture with a biggest and tallest Cactus named Saguaro. You can compare my size with Saguaro.
yangki This one is the tallest Saguaro in Desert Museum, there still a tallest one in the wild Sonoran Desert.
HannaS How Cool! During our trip through Utah, we were looking all the time for such a big one :) We didn´t find it...
yangki It was funny durint my trip to the Saguaro national Park. I met with an officer and I introduce my name "My name is Yangki Suara" and she said "You're famous here" I'm curious "how come?
yangki she said "because you're in your own National Park". hhaa.. Suara = Saguaro.. ^_^
