rima Hi Lena and Forest Friends. This is Imbo, the supercute elephant we saw in Flying Squad Camp in Tesso Nilo National Park. Imbo is 2 months old, and he really likes to play. May be his favorite one is "sitting on a tire". You look so cute in the tire, Imbo. Please stay health and cute. I know someday you will be the strongest one. Cheers :D
LeLe Without doubt, Imbo is the cutest elephant I've ever seen in my life!
rima Hallo Lena. Danke for the "oleh-oleh". I really like it, especially the Ritter Sport chocolate... so soft and lecker..! Today I introduce Tiger Bond to Rile. Rile is really happy to get a new friend from Germany, just like me who happy to see you. See you Lena :) PS: Please say my hello to Fang :D
LeLe :) I'm happy that you liked the little presents from Germany, Rima! I'm also really enjoying yours - I'm going to send you a picture of me in the Indonesian dress! Of course I'm going to greet Fang:) Please take care of Tiger Bond.....& of yourself!!! Cheers, Your Lena

rima Hallo hallo Forest Friend fans, how are you? Today I, Lena, and WWF team had arrived in Pekanbaru. Pekanbaru is the capital city of Riau Province in Indonesia. This noon we will go to Tesso Nilo and start our fun trip, and today we watch the presentation from WWF Pekanbaru about Tesso Nilo, the forest, the elephants, the tigers, and all the things exist in Tesso Nilo. It is said to know that Riau Province had lost 65% of its forest. We hope after our planting, Riau forest will be better, and the animals inside the forest would be sustain. Cheers :D
rima Halo Forest Friend. Yesterday is the happiest day of Forest Friend Program for me, because Lena and Germany team came to Indonesia. We have so many things to do in Tesso Nilo National Park: planting trees, meet the baby elephant, trekking the tiger trail, and other interesting things. Yesterday, I and Lena also met Mia and Yangki, another forest friend participants. We shared so many stories, and we had a dinner together. It's so exciting...! I hope we can see each other next time, and share more experience of ours. We'll be miss you, Mia and Yangki :)
LeLe Good Evening Rima & Forest-Friends around the globe! I had my last injection 12 hours ago, I finished packing 1 hour ago ( that has been really, really hard work:): Now, I'm very well prepared for the journey to Indonesia starting tomorrow! I'm looking forward to everything except from the moscitos! I'm going to report about my expierences in Indonesia, the rainforest & the 63.780 WWF Jugend trees= your trees(!) in Tesso Nilo on the hompage of the WWF Jugend. See you all & see you Rima!!! Your Lena (who is hoping that she will be able to sleep- she's a bit nervous:)
Gast Good evening, Lena. Believe me, someday you will miss Indonesian mosquitos very much, hehehe…. Yaaa… I hope we can get good signal of phone or internet, so we can update our status and experience in this blog. Have a nice sleep :D -- Rima
rima Guten morgen, Lena. Do you know that there are 360 species of plants, 107 species of birds, 23 species of mammals, 3 species of primates, 50 species of fishes, 15 species of reptiles, and 18 species of amphibians in a hectar of Tesso Nilo National Park? That's an amazing fact of Tesso Nilo :D Below, I attach a very cute sun bear photo. Btw, today I will pack my stuffs, and prepare a surprise present for you. See you, Lena :D
LeLe Wow- a present for me :) Can't wait, can't wait cant' wait :) And thanks for the impressive facts about Tesso Nilo- I hope that we're going to see as many as possible of them. Maybe even such a cute bear?!
Gast They look cute, but exactly they're not cute at all, hahaha... They have a fun fact, that they can climb a tree, but they can't go down. So they will falling their body to the ground, and get fainted. Oh, poor sun bear :( -- Rima
LeLe Hi Rima & Forest-Friends-Fans! Just 2 more nights left until we're leaving Germany!! Today, the whole tour group (= the 2 journalists Mareike and David, the photographer Klaus, Ulrike from WWF Germany and me) had a telephone conference to learn to know each other and to talk about the upcoming trip - that was really nice! I'm so happy that I have to share some information about the Indonesian forest with all of you: In the forests of Sumatra, Borneo & Co, you can find more than 10% of the world's flowering plant species, 12% of all mammal species and 17% of all bird species- that's amazing, isn't it? .....and makes clear why it is so important to protect these forests! Cheers, Your Lena (who can't wait to start the big adventure:)
rima Guten morgen, Lena. Wow, I didn't know before that you will come to Indonesia with 4 other people. It's really nice to know about it. Yes, Lena. Indonesian forest is an area with the second largest biodiversity in the world, after Amazon. You will find a lot of interesting living creature here. I bet you will like it very much ;)
LeLe :)
LeLe HelloHello Rima! Today, I've read an interesting book about Indonesia and the different people living there- that's so interesting!! I didn't know before that the meat of dogs is a delicacy in some parts of Indonesia or that there is a special expression for the loving pinching of cute children: 'gemes'. Besides, I've used some minutes of this day to learn to say: Saya tidur sekarang - I'm going to sleep now:) Good night, I'm going to be back tomorrow! Your Lena
rima Hallo Lena. Wow, you have learned a lot about Indonesia. I think I have to do the same about Germany :) Yes, it is, some people eat dog meat, especially in the North Sumatra, while Moslem people are forbidden to eat dog meat and pork. 'Gemes' word is actually 'gemas'. So I can say "Tiger Bond sangat menggemaskan" which means "Tiger Bond is very cute and lovely". Alright, Lena.. Tidur nyenyak, dan mimpi indah (sleep tight, and have a nice dream) :D
LeLe Tiger Bond asked me to tell you that he can't wait to see you. To be honest, I know that he's very afraid of the long flight. But I think that he'll do it!
Gast Go go, Tiger Bond....! I know you can do it :) -- Rima who can't log in to this site :(
rima Hi Lena and Forest Friend Fans. Do you know that today is the World Forestry Day? World Forestry Day on 21 March allows us to reflect on the many and varied benefits of forests to communities around the world. One of the biggest of these is provide us so much oxygen and clean water. I think both of these are the most important things in our life. Should we bet our life by destroying too much forest? Happy World Forestry Day...! Cheers :D (the picture below is the Bornean Rainforest, taken from http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/jan/29/moths-climate-change-tropics)
LeLe Yes, I knew that because - happily- it was mentioned in the media. I've read about it in 'our' newspaper and in the internet. The picture of the Bornean Rainforest is really beautiful - amazing!
LeLe But now:) I've got a fantastic plan! I made a packing-list so that nothing should go wrong now...AH! (the nice sound when having a flash of genius:) And thanks for reminding me of bringing a box for the honey- I'm going to do that - I love honey! Only 5 days left until we are leaving (on Saturday morning) - amazing! I'm going to write more about my further preparations! Cheers,, Your Lena (sososo much looking forward to see you)
rima Haha, it's nice to see you have a happy packing. I often to be confused too about the packing priority, hehehe :D I suggest you to bring the insect repellent and sunblock (of course :p). Have you eaten your malaria drugs? I hope you didn't forget about it ;)
LeLe I've already bought sunblocker (it's going to be about 30 °C in Jakarta in the nights and Tesso Nilo is unbelievable near to the equator - I hope that I will manage that:) and the insect repellent (very important!!) & I've got a great plan about malaria- don't worry:)
LeLe Hi Rima! I'm fine, thank you:) Hope you too!! I'm really busy with my preparations: I bought a nice-looking, blue-coloured & comfortable-portable backpack to carry all my things to Tesso Nilo. Firstly, I've been in desperation- I couldn't decide what to put in my backpack! Ahahaha.....
rima Hallo hallo, Lena. Wie geht es dir? Ich hoffe, sie immer fein. How about your preparation to go to Indonesia? Please, don't forget to bring your empty lunch boxes with you to Tesso Nilo, or you would be regret to not to bring the best quality of forest honey in the world. This is a very small part of the very big honey bee nest, which farmer took from the Sialang Trees. In a night, a farmer can collect 30-40 big nests! Then you can imagine, how many honey bees are and how many wild flowers are in Tesso Nilo. Cheers... *Buzz... buzz... the honey bees are waiting for you* :D
LeLe :)
rima Hi Lena, how are you? Several days ago, the green club of my university invite me to join a simple talk show about Sustainable Development. The speakers are Dana Vogel and Christina Deibl, German students of Sustainable Resource Management of Technische Universitaet Muenchen. I learnt a lot of interesting things from them. At the end of the talk show, they gave me a pack of Ritter SPORT chocolate. Das ist so lecker...! Yummy.. :D
LeLe Sounds really interesting- you can be happy to be a member of this club! Yes, Ritter Sport chocolate is absolutely 'lecker'- I like it, too!
Gast wow...mpok Rime
LeLe Hello Forest-Friends-Fans! Some days ago, Lisa, a female elephant at Flying Squad Camp in Tesso Nilo National Park on Sumatra gave birth to this cute male calv. I hope that Rima & me are going to meet these elephants when being in Tesso Nilo at the end of this month. Cheers, Your Lena
rima Hallo Lena and Lisa and Lisa's son. It is good to see that Lisa had given a birth. I'm sure that the birth will makes the population of 200 elephants in Tesso Nilo very happy. Welcome to the world, baby. I can't wait to see you rock the world with your big foots...! :D
LeLe Good Morning Rima! It's the 24th Febuary, 9.20h right now, and there are exactly 1.936.217 hectares of forest lost since the 1st January 2011!! In this moment!! That's so hard to believe, but it's simply the truth. The WWF installed a huge 'clock' in the main train station of Berlin which doesn't show what time it is but how much forest has been lost sice the beginning of the year. You can also see it herehttp://www.wwf-jugend.de/entdecken/. I think that's a fantastic idea because we all have to be confronted with the grim fact that, every minute(!), we loose rainforest of the siece of 35 football fields as often as possible. Cheers, Your Lena
How can i be a fan?
LeLe Hi Vanily! Unfortunately, it is not longer possible to become a fan as the 3-month lasting project is already finished. The 6 Forest-Friends collected almost 64.000 trees for Tesso Nilo which are soon going to be planted. We would be happy if you follow us on our trip to Sumatra here on this site. Thank you for asking! Cheers, Lena
rima Hi Lena.. Wow, what an inconvenient fact. Yes, sometimes we forgot about important thing which can't be seen. I hope the clock can convinces people who see it, that we are the frogs in the cold water that is slowly heated to be boiling water. Thanks for the nice information, Lena :D
rima Hi Lena.... Happy belated valentine's day. I send you box of special chocolate from Indonesia. I said it special, because the box is made from bamboo, so it won't trash our Eath too much. Though the taste of these chocolate are no too great, I choose them because of its unique and green packaging. I hope we can always give aour love to all people around us, and of course to our Earth :D. Cheers, Rima.
LeLe Hi Rima:) Thank you so much! I would like to taste this Indonesian chocolate, but it will have to compete with the uncomparable taste of German chocolate:) I would like to bring some for you with me, but I'm afraid that it will melt- I'll see what I can do... But I really love the packing- great green idea! Cheers, Your Lena
